About the Instructor:
Janice Banther, CCCE, CLD, CD(DONA), CHBE, RTS certifeid and RTS trainer, has been featured in numerous television, radio and print interviews, including the national magazine CHILD. She is the founder and Executive Director of For the Love of Birth, Inc. She has been supporting expecting mothers and their babies since 1983. She has been a birth doula at over 600 births, and has taught childbirth education to thousands of couples in the Tampa Bay area. She is also the founder of Birth Behind Bars, the childbirth education and labor doula program at Pasco County Jail.

Ms. Banther was one of the first certified labor doulas with DONA International in Florida, and is also a certified labor doula and childbirth educator with CAPPA. She is also certified with the Happiest Baby on the Block. She is a RTS Bereavement counselor and coordinator for mothers and families to help them in their time of deepest need. Ms. Banther is a Faculty Member with CAPPA and conducts labor doula and childbirth educator training workshops in Florida. She is a former member of the Board of Directors for DONA International, and currently serves as a mentor for members of CAPPA, and is a member of the CAPPA Ask the Pros panel.

In 2002, Ms. Banther was recognized by the Salvation Army and was awarded their coveted Others Award for the Southeastern United States, in honor of her work on behalf of others within the community. In 2001 she received recognition from Palm Harbor Junior Women's Club for her achievement and development of a staff of caring professional women, and was awarded Woman of the Year. in 2009 the Healthy Start Coalition of Pinellas County recognized her outstanding work in the community.

Ms. Banther considers her most rewarding work to be that of wife to Barry, and mother to her son, David and his wife Ruth, and her youngest son, John, and of family friend, Casey, who is the best lap dog. Her hobbies are collecting old quilts, scrap booking, reading, and going to the mountains of North Carolina.
